Traditional Khichuri hobe

Most favorite dessert of everyone

For children or adults, ice cream is a common item that everyone loves. I am quite sure that everyone got it right. Some people can’t wait for the ice cream in the winter also. Ice cream is like a problem solver to the people who love it. More than a hundred flavoured ice creams have been invented throughout the world. Chocolate, milk, vanilla, almond, mango, orange, nut, strawberry etc. are some of the most popular.

Ice cream is loaded with vitamins and minerals that boost your energy. It can be a good source of calcium so there is a chance of reducing the risk of breast cancer as we know, lack of calcium is responsible for this. We notice the tendency in people that they think ice cream is not healthy but we must understand the fine line between having ice cream and having too much ice cream. Researches show it helps our brain to act smart and helps to boost our immunity as well. Leaving all these aside, let’s focus on the most important part and that is ‘It makes you HAPPY’.

We may have made ice creams at our home but our activities are totally different from commercial ice cream processing. By combining the ingredients like milk, cream, milk solids, sugar, modifying agents and flavour syrup, commercial ice cream is made. In Bangladesh, there are few well-known commercial ice cream companies available.

Ice cream companies follow quite a similar process to make ice creams. To form a mixture, all the liquid and dry ingredients need to be mixed properly and this mixing is supervised by computers. Pasteurizing or heating can kill all the harmful bacteria in the mixture. Adding a flavour to the mixture is the next step where any flavour can be added. Any flavour gets blended with the mixture and this phase is performed in vats that hold hundreds of gallons of ice cream with large steel paddles mixing the ice cream.

The mixture must be frozen and whipped at the same time. This process continues in a huge tube, surrounded by pipes which contain chemicals. For freezing the tube, chemical like ammonia is used. In this process, supervisors ensure that the chemical doesn’t get mixed with the mixture of ice cream.

It is not the end of the procedure but the main part starts from here. The mixture is still soft right after removing it from the ice cream maker. So, they keep the mixture in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before being blended with finely chopped nuts or fruits or other delicacies. Then the ice cream is scooped into big boxes or it can be poured into large canes or buckets with the help of factory equipment. The ice cream must now be cooled to a very low temperature, below zero-degree Fahrenheit. The ice cream must remain frozen while being packaged and loaded onto trucks, so factories make it much colder.

Different local and international ice cream brands have been introduced in our country in the last decade. They are providing lots of flavoured ice cream in different shapes. Among them, box ice cream with many sizes, cone ice cream, popsicles, cup ice creams are the most popular. Most companies use imported ingredients. Each and every brand aims to provide the best quality to its customers. Not only the old brands but also the newcomers are being appreciated by the customers. All they need is to maintain quality and understand customer demand.
