Food lover or not, Bengali just loves beef! No matter how little you eat and diet, everyone is mad about beef. When beef is cooked, it seems an occasion going on. It seems there could never be a good celebration without having beef. There are hundreds of styles to prepare beef to eat in Bangladesh. ‘Kala Bhuna’ is one of them. This recipe originated from Chittagong, the southern part of Bangladesh. 

Kala means black and Bhuna is something roasted. Many people think that frying meat several times makes this item black. However, the real technique of traditional Kala Bhuna cooking in Chittagong is to use the right spices. This curry looks blackish by the style of its cooking. The making of this food is different. The taste, aroma, color of this dish are all quite different from other dishes. 

Although Kala Bhuna is roasted with beef, mutton can be used also. Beef is more popular for this spicy curry. In Chittagong, this dish is served at any festival, occasion, or domestic event. Nowadays, people from all corners of Bangladesh are fond of this item.

A special feast is organized in the Chittagong region on the occasion of Akika, birthday, marriage, welcoming a new child, baby shower, Eid or different religious ceremonies. The popularity of this food is huge and the lovers of Kala Bhuna cannot reduce this item from their menu when they go abroad. They try to cook this special item at various Bengali events. 

You cannot say no to Kala Bhuna

Those who have experienced of eating Kala Bhuna at any place liked this fun dish very much. Mastered oil brings a magical taste to it. It is heard that there are special chefs for cooking this item in Chittagong who are called out to different places on many occasions. The wedding house in Chittagong cannot be imagined without Kala Bhuna. It is served as the main course there.

Now, not only in Chittagong, but Kala Bhuna is also available in many restaurants across the country. Even if the food lovers can’t come to Chittagong due to lack of time, this arrangement is very convenient for them so that they are not deprived of the taste of Chittagong. The restaurant business makes this tradition available and more special. 

It can be served with different kinds of items such as Rice, Polao, Parota or Naan. The texture of this traditional curry is not completely dry; rather it is a little juicy and very soft when cooked properly. The meat preservation method and preparation have become now a traditional food item. Its finger-licking taste mesmerizes people. One should try this delicious item at least once in life to experience its mouthwatering awesomeness.
