Cooking is an ART for Chef Golam Rabby

A chef is a person who makes the raw ingredients as the most delicious edible dishes. As cooking is an art, some people are born with this art and some become masters by trying it. Golam Rabby is such a person who continuously improved the art called cooking. He is an experienced chef who started cooking in his childhood. Let’s hear from him about his passion and dream.

When did you first think that cooking is your forte?

I started cooking when I was a teenager. Sometimes there wouldn’t be anything to eat so I just decided to go to the kitchen and grab a pan and then whatever I find in our refrigerator I just started to mix. At first, it was worst but day by day I understood how much should I put and when I should. Then it started to become better.

Who inspired you to cook?

Actually, my mom is my biggest inspiration to become a cook. I always remember that when she was alive every one of my relatives give a good compliment about her cooking. But I was not too luck when I was in Fifth grade she Left this earth by Kidney failure. Then I realized day by day that food can change anyone’s mind and mood so my mom is my biggest inspiration.

Do you think cooking is an art?

Not everybody out there has a knack for cooking! It takes a lot more than just mixing things up and coming up with a dish. If it weren’t for art, we would be still eating raw and bland food. If it weren’t art, nobody would have bothered about Masterchef shows and books. If it weren’t for art, our lives would have been missing out on a lot. Cooking, in itself, is a wholly different dimension of art.

Any tips for new chefs that you want to share with us?

Data is your compass for making informed decisions. Ask all the people who try your food for their email addresses. Then build a simple survey and send it to all the people who get to try your food, that’s the only way you can ensure you can improve your product by capturing their feedback.

Is it difficult in Bangladesh to pursue a career as a chef?

From my personal experience working professionally in the kitchen or working as a chef, it’s quite difficult because our society thinks that our children will become a Doctor or Engineers. Thinking out of the box is quite difficult in our society.

You are an expert at which section of cooking?

I am working in this industry for more than eight years, in my eight years of experience I already work in different sections but I really love to bake and love to make chocolate and pastry. So we can tell I have expertise in baking and pastry.
