Cumin comes from a plant called Cuminum Cyminum

Cumin is an annual plant of the parsley family. This is a kind of spice extracted from the dried seed of a plant known as Cuminum cyminum, Cumin is usually available in two forms, the form of whole dried seeds or as ground powder. Cumin is one of the ancient spices grown in Egypt and the Middle East which is now commonly used in Latin American, Middle Eastern, North African and Indian cuisines.
