18 of us from ‘Ghurbo Desh’ group were planning to do camping in St. Martin on the full moon. We were accompanied by Mushtak’s colleagues Anower bhai and Pinky bhabhi. We had been to Sylhet and Sajek together before. So we arrived at Shyamoli’s counter in the evening hoping for a great tour.
It was surprising to find an almost empty road. We had talks, took a nap and reached Teknaf just in time. We freshened up, had breakfast and boarded the ship. One of the best views of the ship in St. Martin is watching the birds, named Gangchill. Many people throw chips at the birds. It is not right to feed them in this way. Their food habit changes. About one o’clock in the afternoon, we set foot on St. Martin Island. Arriving at the CTB resort next to West Beach, we freshened up. It’s time for lunch.
Sea fish are essential while visiting the sea. Everyone likes coral. Sajal Bhaiya said, ‘There is a fish named Sundari. You can try it.’ That too was ordered. Crispy fried fish, two kinds of vegetables, pulses and rice. All of us got up and started walking. Time for swimming in the sea. When we got into the water, the sea was calm. The water was slowly rising, along with the cold air. I was sitting in the water, enjoying the blue tides. The attraction of the sea is very irresistible.
We went out for a walk in the afternoon. How many small shops were there! We ate jhalmuri and watermelon followed by fried fish. Choose fresh fish, order and eat. Roopchanda, tuna, Sundari, coral and much more fish. There are also octopuses, crabs and squid. Then we drank coconut water. In comparison, the price of coconut seems to be higher on this island. The full moon in the sky, its silver shadow in the sea, the glittering sand, the cold wind, and we walked in a daze. The weather was so cold. A shivering wind and we didn’t have warm clothes with us. So we went back to the front of the resort where our tent was pitched. There was a barbecue for us at night. Fish, chicken and portal. The barbecues at St. Martin are quite good. After eating, I went straight to the tent and slept.
It was early in the morning. Blue sky in the eyes, the roar of the sea in the ears. We sat at the breakfast table. The menu was khichuri, fried eggs and vegetables. Not to mention Khichuri in particular. Very little water is used in this khichuri. It is almost fried by continuous stirring. The recipe is strange but not bad in taste. After eating, we set off for Chhera Dwip. The life jacket is wrapped around the body. One can also go to Chhera dwip on foot.
We got off the trawler and started walking. One can see the beautiful coral island and Chhera dwip side by side. The water is so clear, that the coral below can be seen clearly. I like Chhera dwip more than Daruchini dwip. Because there was no crowd. It feels serene. We had ice cream dipped in food color. It was not healthy though.
It’s time to go back. We have to catch the ship. It becomes very difficult to leave ignoring the sea. The heart is stuck to the waves of the sea, to the beach. It becomes difficult to carry only the body!
