As Christmas is the biggest celebration for Christians they leave no stone unturned to make it as enjoyable and special as possible. Let’s see an easy recipe for this mouthwatering delicacy.
Ingredients:
- A fresh turkey (15 – 20 pounds)
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- Perfectly grounded black pepper
- Juice of a whole lemon
- 1 tablespoon chopped thyme
- Kosher salt
- Quartered onion
- One-head garlic
- Lemon zest
- Salt
Recipe:
It is better to use fresh turkey. Stored frozen turkey can be taken but you have to thaw it properly first and then start other processes. One should remove any access fat and the giblet out of the turkey before cleaning. Then pat the outside of the turkey dry.
Let’s say your turkey is ready to be cooked. Before starting preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a small saucepan and melt the butter and add lemon juice, lemon zest and chopped thyme. Stir a few times and then set aside. Now take the turkey and place it on a large roasting pan. Generously put salt and pepper inside the turkey and also the cavity with a halved lemon, a bunch of thyme, onion and garlic. Brush that butter mix on the turkey’s skin. It will add an amazing taste. Sprinkle some salt and pepper outside. Then put the turkey wings underneath the body and tie its legs with string to keep it in place. Now it’s roasting time! Here you have to be a little patient. You have to roast the turkey in that pre-heated oven for almost two and a half hours. You will know your turkey is ready when you can see juices run clear while cutting between the legs and thighs. Keep the turkey wrapped in some aluminium foil for 20 minutes.
