Bangladesh is an amazing and beautiful country. In the past, I have arrived in Bangladesh many times but on this occasion, it was my second visit to Dhaka. On this trip, I experienced the highest level to the lowest level. In this article, I will be sharing my experience with the readers on how my recent trip to Bangladesh went and some of the food that I experienced during my stay in Dhaka.
As a British Bangladeshi, living in the UK, mainly my routine diet is Western food, like burgers, sandwiches, sushi, pizza, and other different types of western food, but trying Bangladeshi cuisine in Bangladesh was something that I have not experienced and I have been so eagerly waiting for.
On this trip, I was very excited to try the local traditional foods, and finally having to experience the local traditional Bengali cuisine was an eye-opener for me. Before I arrived in Dhaka, I expected to try as many different types of Bengali food as possible. In particular, I was excited to try the various types of Bhortas, the traditional Bengali curries alongside the fish and vegetables which are very much available fresh in Bangladesh.
Out of all that above, I have enjoyed traditional Fuchka, Pan-Supari with fire which was an extraordinary experience for me. On top of that, I have tried endless tea and another famous dish which is served with breakfast called Nihari.
I have also tried different types of traditional curries. But one thing that has caught my attention was the Fuchka which to date I cannot forget. Doi Fuchka (The Yogurt Fuchka) was yummy and I enjoyed all of it.
In particular, I have found local foods cooked with fresh spice and delicious ingredients which have caught my attention and made the food much more delicious.
I learned that with modern technology ordering food has become so easy in Bangladesh. There are various types of online platforms available to order food at home and I have made use of the available facilities to enjoy delicious food at home.
Overall, my experience was really good. I have enjoyed the traditional Bengali foods, and most importantly I will leave Bangladesh with a happy memory. I look forward to coming back again in near future to try much more traditional food.
