Eid-ul Fitr is celebrated throughout the world by Muslims after the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. On this particular occasion, the Muslims prepare their breakfast with a variety of sweet dishes to enjoy the happy end of Ramadan. That’s why Eid-ul Fitr is also known as ‘SWEET EID’.
All the Muslim and non-Muslim countries where Muslims belong, such as Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, the Arab world, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, prepare sweet dishes for Eid morning. The types and forms of cuisine may vary because of the locality, but the observations are always adorable.
In South Asian countries, for instance, in Bangladesh, the most common dishes for Eid day breakfast are- Shemai, Kheer, Pudding, Zarda, Halwa, Shahi Tukda and many more. ‘Laccha Shemai’ is the most popular dish for Eid day morning. Shemai is a sweet dessert form of Vermicelli. The key ingredients of this dish are milk, sugar, cashew nuts, ghee, and vermicelli. People of all ages love to have this delicious sweet dish before going to their Eid prayer.
Another tasty breakfast dish of Eid day is ‘Shahi Tukda which is also known as a ‘royal bite’. It is a Mughlai dessert and is famous in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. This dish is basically made with fried bread slices soaked in sugar syrup, topped with thickened milk and garnished nuts. Besides these dishes, the Bengalis love decorating their morning dining with various sweets like Chomchom, Roshmalai, Laddu, Golab Jamun etc.
Eid is an occasion for bringing happiness. The Muslims make this occasion more amazing by preparing tasty dishes. They invite their friends, relatives, and neighbours to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. However, starting this holy occasion with a lot of sweetness is appreciable.
