Panta Vat & Fried Ilish
This is the signature dish of this day, and without this mouthwatering traditional food, no Bengali can imagine their first day of Bangla Year. Panta, leftover rice soaked in water overnight, and with the Ilish bhaja [deep fried Hilsa] it is served in the morning. With a pinch of salt, lime, and chili. The combination of rice and fish makes most Bengalis salivate.
Heavenly feeling Various Vorta
Bhortas enhance the taste of panta bhat, and it is one of Bangladesh’s ultimate comfort dishes. Bhortas are mashed goods created with a variety of vegetables, dried fish, mustard oil, onion, garlic, and red chili that are delightful, smooth, hot, and savory. Nobo Borsho supper must have aloo (potato) bhorta and shutki (dried fish) bhorta. Dal bhorta, eggplant bhorta, broccoli, zucchini, and other vegetables are also good choices. The more bhortas there are, the better the meal.
Sorisha Ilish (Mustard Hilsa Curry)
Another best combination is gravy sorisha ilish with hot steamed rice. Mustard paste, green chilies, and mustard oil are used in Shorshe Ilish, also known as Ilish macher jhal, a classical Bengali dish. As a result, this is a popular festive meal in Bangladesh, especially in the time of Baisakh.
Traditional Pithas or cakes
This is a festival to represent the abundance of cultural cakes. Every people enjoy the moments, and they keep waiting when this fabulous day will come, and they would get the chance to enjoy the delicious pithas because normally this is rare to get customary cuisine. Dudh puli, pakan pitha, vapa puli, chitoy, lobongo lotika are the main pitha item on this day. Nakshi pitha is an attractive pie that has its style and design.

Cotton candy is a sugary confection that looks like cotton. It’s also known as fairy floss or candy floss Flavorings and food colouring are usually present in little amounts. Even though this wonderful sweet is not a part of our heritage, it is one of the most popular sweets, especially among children. This eye-catching cotton candy makes the baishakh more colourful and brighter with its rainbow colour appearance.
Apart from these main dishes, Baishakh comes with other yum yum food such as aloo dom (made with potato), muri ghonto (made with fish), beef kala vuna, luchi, cholar dal, payesh, roshogolla, and kulfi.
