Fish are great pets because they don’t need training, playtime, or grooming. Pet fish needs a clean place to live and healthy mates. Taking care of fish can be an easy and relaxing responsibility although they are not maintenance-free.
Pet fish need the following to survive-
- A balanced diet
- Clean Water
- Appropriate light
- A proper filtration system
- Water conditioner to balance pH levels
Feeding the fish is not only fun but very important to maintain regular care. In their natural environment, fish spends the majority of their time hunting for and grazing on food. Flake food is a type of proprietary or artificially manufactured fish food consumed by a wide variety of tropical and saltwater fish and invertebrates. It is ideally suited to top dwellers and mid-water fish through numerous bottom-dwelling species that consume flake food once it has settled on the bottom.
Fish flakes are the most popular type of fish food. It is a universal food, suitable for species feeding in all areas of the aquarium. First, it floats on the surface then it falls and dissolves all over the aquarium, giving the possibility to eat it to individuals that prefer lower areas. Even if the flakes get to the bottom of the tank they will turn into waste. This can easily mess up the balance of the water. Always remember to sprinkle just enough flakes for fish to eat in a couple of minutes. Depending on the manufacturer, flakes typically have a shelf life of 18 months to three years.
The basic components of most flaked fish food include fish meal, squid meal, shrimp meal, earthworms, spirulina, vitamins, and minerals. This provides fish with all the nutrients it needs but can’t get in captivity. Flake food should feed pet fish two to three times daily. A few flakes per fish is sufficient.
