Banana is one of the most common fruits in the world. They are a member of the Musa family of plants that are native to Southeast Asia and are grown in many countries. Hot and clammy weather is the best for growing bananas. This fruit is loved by most people because of its flavour and nutrition. Banana is a common fruit in use of any kind of dessert. Besides, this yellow thing is a berry itself scientifically.   

Different types of bananas are available and each of them has a slightly different taste. The most common types are Cavendish and Lady Finger bananas.

Banana is very healthy as it contains different types of antioxidants and phytonutrients, vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium and fibre. The carbohydrate of green bananas changes dramatically as they ripen. Starch is the major component of unripe bananas; they contain up to 80% starch.

It’s not only a popular fruit but also it has several health benefits. Bananas are recognized for their high vitamin B6 content that helps to reduce swelling, protect against type 2 diabetes, aid in the creation of white blood cells and improve the nervous system as well. The antioxidants of this fruit protect us from free radicals. Bananas also contain pectin which is a form of fibre found in a banana. Water-soluble pectin can be found in bananas, especially in ripe bananas.

Bananas are beneficial for our cardiovascular system; an electric signal is sent to our nerve cells which fire in order to keep our heart beating. In bananas resistant starch is abundant. Resistant starch is a type of dietary fibre. It benefits the blood sugar regulation of our body. They may not provide a high amount of calcium but still, they are beneficial for maintaining our bone health. Consuming bananas can be helpful for preventing kidney cancer. 

Bananas are not only nutritious but also delicious and we must admit that they taste even better when added to a dessert. If any of you haven’t tried any dessert yet, I must say you missed the delectable banana treats. Banana cake, halwa, muffin, pancakes, banoffee pie are just a few examples of banana desserts. The use of the banana in Faluda is quite widespread.

People also like stem banana juice as it is a great source of maintaining a healthy body and weight loss. Its high fibre works as an aid for constipation. Though it tastes a bit bitter but can be improved by combing it with additional ingredients. They taste different especially because of the slight sweetness in raw bananas. A popular evening snack is made from bananas which is a traditional Malayali snack. 

In the levels commonly consumed as food, bananas are safe if the person is not allergic to bananas. Bananas may induce high potassium levels in the blood if consumed in large amounts. The right amount of bananas can be a good item for the skin. Perfect ripe bananas are varied man to man but each of every step is beneficial.
