None of you will be surprised if I say that bread is the most widely consumed food in the world. Bread has been known as a staple food since the earliest years of human history. Our body needs nutrients for the growth and maintenance of health. Bread contains fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. So, without a doubt, it has different health benefits. People with a diet food routine also keep a little amount of bread in their food chart. Most of the people only know about the most common basic white bread. But the world of bread is bigger enough than you can ever think. So, let’s learn about some iconic and popular types of bread. 

Baguette 

It is a long and thin type of bread that is almost everyone’s favourite.  For the slower fermentation process, this bread has kind of some holes on its skin. Easily distinguishable by the size and crispiness of the crust. This long and sticklike yeast bread is originated in France. Can be easily made with simple ingredients like flour, yeast, water and salt. Baguette bread is simple yet popular around the world, especially for its chewy and crispy crust.

Brioche 

French is quite appreciated for inventing such a bread recipe that is loaded with eggs and butter, and also has a very light texture. Uses of eggs make the crust soft and light. This gorgeous golden yellow shaded bread has a subtle sweetness in taste. This shiny golden bread would be the perfect choice if you have craving for something soft and slightly sweet bread.

Ciabatta  

Italy-originated wheat flour-based bread that includes some other basic ingredients such as yeast, salt and water. It has a different shape, crust and texture throughout Italy. Because of its chewy crust and soft texture, this bread is good to use for paninis and sandwiches.

Focaccia 

Focaccia is another famous Italian bread baked in a sheet pan at high temperatures that is similar to pizza dough for its flat loaf. Focaccia is called “Pizza Bianco” in some places in Italy. It has a different flavour and texture but this bread is always baked as a flatbread. Its delicate and thin crust has a little bit of crunchy texture because of coating the bread with olive oil. Some like the bread with a taste of herbs and garlic. It can be served with meat and cheese but it also tastes great with soup.

Multigrain 

This rich bread is loaded with different types of grains like oats, barley, flax and a few more. The name multigrain simply defines the speciality of this bread. Its hearty flavour and healthy ingredients make it noticeable to consumers. It is the perfect choice to use for morning toast or sandwiches as well.  

Rye bread

An assertive rye-flavoured bread is made with a combination of bread flour and rye flour which is a bread of Scandinavian origin. Rye bread gained popularity for its rich and strong flavour. This tight crumb bread is made with rye flour and regular bread flour though some bakers use caraway seeds or dill seeds for making the flavour more earthy. The speciality of this bread when it is used for a sandwich is its flavour and a little amount of mustard on the bread can make it delectable. 

Sourdough

The process of making sourdough involves a starter before making dough to create the basis. The starter consists of a fermented mixture of water and flour and it can last a long time. This bread tastes a little bit sour because of the natural lactic acid produced while the starter process was running and caused by the use of yeast. Thick-crusted sourdough has a very large air bubble inside. This bread can be used for any type of sandwich. Along with controlling blood sugar and digestion, sourdough bread has many health benefits. 

Whole Wheat

When it comes to a health issues, whole wheat bread is healthier than many other breads. This nutritious bread is made from entire wheat grain including root and bran and that means it has more fibre than white bread. It is used for making sandwiches to change the flavour of the sandwich a bit richer. 

Bagels

The baking process of bagels is a bit different than many other breads. At first, the dough needs to be boiled in water for a while and then the baking process can be continued. This bread is ring-shaped with a hole in the center. Its interior is a bit dense but soft and it has a brownish exterior. This bread should be enjoyed in a traditional way like adding salmon or cream cheese on it.

The list of bread from the whole world is huge but there is some well-known bread like English muffins, Grissini, Soda, Pai bao, Pumpernickel, Challah, Breadstick, Banana bread, these breads are famous for their taste or unique usage. Each bread has some speciality and is made with special ingredients based on its origin.
