Whether raw or fried, the popularity and use of these Chinese Nuts in Bangladesh are eye-catching. The nutritious Chinese Nuts are used to make a variety of delicious dishes. One such popular dish is the sweet-tasting Peanut Bar locally named Nut Khaja, Nut Chikki or Katkati. No matter what you call it, this delicious food is considered to be street food. It is a favourite of everyone, especially children.

Listing the foods of childhood, one of the foods that will inevitably come out is Peanut Bar. There are many memories associated with this type of food. Still, everyone may remember the look of a nut-seller standing outside the gate during a school tiffin or end. The Nut-Sellers’ shouting ‘Khaja-Khaja, Badam Khwaja’ is commonly seen on the streets, foot over, bus stands, railway stations, school of college gates and in front of parks. Moreover, their assorted types of shops can be seen in different fairs. Nut-seller usually sells Peanut Bar in a Basket hanging around the neck or Van.

We lose a lot of things over time. Then the food of childhood takes place in the list of memories.

Surely you ate a lot of this food as a child. Assuredly, it doesn’t take any certain age to eat Peanut Bar; these are foods that have a lifelong appeal to us. If you want to bring yourself back to your childhood for a while, you can make this delicious dish yourself. Let’s find out the recipe-

To make the dish you will need- 2 cups of Chinese Nuts, 2 teaspoons of Pistachios, 1/2 cup of Molasses / Sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of Clarified Butter, 4-5 cups of Cardamom (powder), 1/4 cup of water.

First, heat the pan and fry the Nuts. If it turns red, take it down. Now put clarified butter, molasses/sugar and 1/4 cup water in a pan. Stir lightly till the molasses/sugar melts. Stir with a wooden spoon and one slice of lime so that it does not stick. You can add a little hot water. When melted, keep stirring with nut and cardamom powder. Put a little clarified butter in a clean dish. When the mixture became condensed, pour it onto the plate. Place butter paper on top and level the sand with a bread-making roller. In hot conditions, cut it to the desired size with a knife. When it became cold, serve the delicious Peanut Bar. It can be stored for several days in an airtight container without refrigeration.

One of the purposes of going out for a walk is to taste a variety of street food. The winter season has begun. In this season, you will see hot peanut bars being sold in various places in the market. Even if you don’t have that opportunity, you can make a sweet peanut bar at home and come back to your childhood memories.
